The Denver Broncos have a game coming up that they may finally have. shot at winning. But that is a big maybe. They play the Las Vegas Raiders this week, and both teams are in pretty bad situations when it comes to the outlook of their seasons.
The Raiders are 2-7, and maybe the most dysfunctional in terms of finding ways to close out games.
The Broncos are 3-6 and can’t score more than 20 points on offense. Both have their own problems, and both will be playing with each other with those problems this week.
“Somebody’s got to win this game,” Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett said on Wednesday.
This quote might infuriate a lot of Broncos fans, and I’m here for it.
If you’re like me, you may have taken this quote as Hackett having no confidence in his team. That’s exactly how it sounds. If I’m the coach, and I’m not or never will be, then my answer is something more positive.
“I think we have a chance to win this game if we execute the way we want to.”
See, I literally just thought of something on the spot and it was much more positive. That’s really the main reason I think that quote was a shot at his team in a way, which is a way to show you don’t have any more confidence.
“It’s been a lot of one-score games between both of the clubs… Somebody is going to have to make that final play,” Hackett said.
There is just no sense of urgency with Hackett anymore, at least in my opinion. Then again, it’s hard to when you know you likely won’t be back next season and could be gone this season.
Either way, fans won’t like these two snippets of what he had to say on Wednesday.
