The Denver Broncos are happy they finally got their quarterback. It only took them ten years, it feels like. It hasn’t been the best start, but I bet they are happy nonetheless. If I’m then, I’d rather be going through these current problems with Russell Wilson than Drew Lock or any former quarterback from the last few years.

This team is set up to have major success for a long time. Why? Well, it starts with Wilson. He is one of those guys that as long as he is on your team, you will compete, every year.

But, if you ask Wilson, he will immediately give all the credit to his teammates. According to Zac Stevens of the DNVR network, Wilson spent two minutes and 16 seconds talking about former and current teammates during Wednesday’s press conference.

Stevens also mentioned that Wilson brought up six former Seahawk teammates and 19 current teammates.

Here are some of the other things he said about his current Broncos teammates.

He spoke very highly of rookie Montrell Washington and even compared him to one of his former teammates who is one of the league’s best.

“Montrell Washington can step into the game and make some plays,” Wilson told reporters. “I’m excited to see where he can go. I think he has a lot of similarities to the quickness and the love of the game like Tyler Lockett has.”

That’s very high praise for a guy who was talked up so highly in Broncos training camp. Washington was a fifth-round pick this last draft by Denver.

Wilson also talked about Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton being “All-stars.” He also said that Javonte Williams, the Broncos’ second-year running back, is “arguably maybe the best running back” in the league.

These are things you love to hear from your franchise quarterback, especially when he is going out of his way to do so. He wasn’t asked about every single one of these players. He just started talking about them.

The best part is, the whole time he couldn’t wipe the smile off of his face.

Wilson is one of the best dudes in the NFL and I think most people can agree. Then you add on top of that he’s good at his job, and who could hate the guy?

Even if he didn’t get the response he may have hoped for from Broncos Country, he will eventually.
