Is there a team in the NFL facing more pressure than the Green Bay Packers in 2022?
I think the answer is a definitive “no”.
Aaron Rodgers is back for another season, which brings Super Bowl expectations. But the team won’t have one of its best players in 2022 after trading wide receiver to the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this offseason. That could complicate things for Green Bay.
But the Packers still have a good team. And they have one of the best players in NFL history in Rodgers.
Time, however, is running out on Green Bay’s Super Bowl window. If Rodgers doesn’t get his second career Super Bowl trophy this season, it could mean he finishes his illustrious career with just one Super Bowl win.
If the Packers are going to get to the Super Bowl this season, there are three games during the regular season that are extremely important.
Chicago Bears @ Packers — (September 18)
This should be an automatic win, right? Well, there is no such thing as an automatic win in the NFL. The Bears’ roster is depleted as Chicago goes through a rebuild under new general manager Ryan Poles. But that doesn’t mean this isn’t still a dangerous team. Poles and new head coach Matt Eberflus are changing the culture in Chicago, so they’ll be looking to make a statement in this game. This is one of those games that Green Bay can’t let slip away.
Dallas Cowboys @ Packers (November 15)
The Cowboys are a sneaky threat in the NFC. The Packers will be fighting for the top overall seed in the NFC and Dallas is a legitimate threat. The Cowboys are the only team in the NFC that might be facing as much pressure as the Packers in 2022. Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy, the former head coach of Green Bay, is basically coaching for his job this upcoming season. If the Cowboys don’t reach the Super Bowl, he could be gone. This is going to be a tough game that could have a major impact on playoff seeding.
Los Angeles Rams @ Packers (December 19)
Part of reaching the Super Bowl is having home-field advantage in the playoffs. The Rams are one of the biggest threats to the Packers when it comes to landing the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC. This matchup is at Lambeau Field and it’s a night game in December. If the Packers are going to be a championship team, then winning this game is of the utmost importance.
