The Green Bay Packers showed on Sunday night that there’s no reason for fans to freak out after the team’s season-opening loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Green Bay took care of business on Sunday Night Football, easily defeating the Chicago Bears 27-10.

The win felt good for the Packers for several reasons.

For starters, it’s always fun to beat a division opponent. The Packers/Bears rivalry is one of the oldest in sports, so it’s always special no matter the situation.

Secondly, it was imperative that Green Bay get on the right track against Chicago. They didn’t need questions lingering about the offense after an 0-2 start. With the win against the Bears, they avoid those questions.

Perhaps the biggest reason the win was so satisfying, though, was because of something said by Chicago defensive end Trevis Gipson, who said before the game “we’re going to win, you’ve got my word”.

Packers linebacker Devondre Campbell didn’t forget those words. And he mentioned them as he walked off the field as a winner on Sunday night.

The Bears are an improved team under head coach Matt Eberflus. They play hard and they’re relentless.

But the NFC North still runs through Green Bay. The Packers still sit on the throne.

And that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.

I bet Gipson won’t have much to say when Green Bay visits Soldier Field in December.
