The Kansas City Chiefs already have a step up on one of their matchups during the 2022 season. It may not seem like a big deal, but former players of teams the Chiefs play, have a ton of intel, more than you would think.
The Chiefs have a familiar face back on their schedule in 2022. In 2020, Kansas City played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, twice. They faced off once in the regular season, in Week 12, where the Chiefs won 27-24, and of course, we do not have to bring up the second time.
Now, this year the Chiefs will get a chance at payback, and Ronald Jones can potentially help them do just that in Week 4.
Chiefs’ Jones ‘knows Bucs defense’
The Chiefs will need any help they can get in 2022. Mainly because other teams are starting to catch up to them offensively. Ronald Jones, who was formerly on the Buccaneers, had quite the quote on Thursday.
“Oh yeah,” Jones said when asked if he was excited to play his old team this year. “Definitely, definitely, yeah. I know the whole defense, their schemes, and all that, so it’s going to be a good one. I think it’s going to be in Tampa this year, too.”
While that may not seem like a huge advantage, it is, and think about it this way.
The Chiefs will use Jones to their advantage, by figuring out some inside stuff his former team likes to do. Obviously, both teams can go off of film of the last two times they played each other. However, and here is the kicker, the Buccaneers can’t use a former Chiefs player to get inside information on Kansas City.
The Buccaneers could very well still win come Week 4, but right now you could say the Chiefs have a step ahead of the Buccaneers when it comes to their 2022 matchup.
