KANSAS CITY – The Chiefs are coming off their fourth-straight AFC Championship performance and a draft in which they picked up multiple contributors for 2022. So, it’s easy to see why 2022 is a big season for the Chiefs and their fans.

It gets even bigger when you take a look at their schedule. The Chiefs are set to take on the Buffalo Bills -Las Vegas’ Super Bowl favorites- which is going to have all the pregame hype in the world as the matchup approaches.

But said hype won’t be saved for just the season. Oh, no sir. This is the NFL we are talking about, here. They are going to inflate this matchup as much as possible and for as long as possible.

And the inflation campaign started Thursday when NFL.com listed the Chiefs-Bills matchup as the most-anticipated matchup of the 2022 season.

Now, I am being a little hyperbolic when referring to this as an inflation campaign. This matchup does take the cake when it comes to the other ones mentioned on the list. I mean, we have the fallout from last year’s epic Divisional Round playoff game and both teams were Nos. 1 and 2 in regard to Super Bowl favorites before Tom Brady un-retired and returned to the Buccaneers. Now, the Chiefs sit at No. 3. Either way, it’s a strong matchup between two of the NFL’s premier teams and quarterbacks.

NFL.com writer Nick Shook assembled the list and penned the following about the matchup:

We should take a moment to thank the scheduling gods for delivering a rematch of the best game of the 2021 season, and perhaps ever. Add in the fact an overtime coin toss between these two teams influenced the league to change its postseason overtime rules, and you have a matchup rich in storylines. Allen and Mahomes are the new faces of the NFL, and both teams enter 2022 with visions of kissing the Lombardi Trophy in February. Only one can get there, though, and they might have to go through each other to do so. This regular-season meeting could tell us a whole lot about how the postseason could shake out — and we can all but guarantee a prime-time setting and the football world turning its collective attention to Arrowhead Stadium for this one.

Go ahead and start pre-ordering your popcorn, folks.
