The Kansas City Chiefs lost their Week 3 game in a brutal way. We all remember it by now, right? The defensive penalty by Chris Jones caused the Indianapolis Colts to have a second chance, and they eventually scored on that.

While, yes, that did ultimately lose the game, there were a few other things that cost them the win as well. The offense was awful in the game, and I think we can all agree on that.

The one other thing that everyone noticed was the special teams. In Week 1 Harrison Butker, one of the best kickers in the league, rolled his ankle. Since then, the Chiefs have had two other kickers.

Their second kicker of the year, Matt Ammendola, practically lost them the game. Which is probably why he was cut the very next day if we are being honest. Ammendola went 1/2 on field goals, and 0/1 on extra-point attempts. That was enough for Brett Veach and the company to make a decision the next day.

Watching the Thursday Night Football game between the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts makes you think the Chiefs should not have lost to the Colts no matter how bad the special teams were.

However, that was definitely a big reason.

As for Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Chiefs’ new kicker did exactly what he was supposed to.

Chiefs fans, Matthew Wright is your new best friend. He was perfect against the Buccaneers, going 2/2 on field goal attempts, and 5/5 on extra point attempts, with one field goal attempt coming from 44 yards away.

Wright deserves a ton of love from Chiefs fans. While the team was bad in that area two weeks ago, they were able to bounce back against a better team in Week 4 and have a perfect game in that area.

The Chiefs may have to use Wright again against the Las Vegas Raiders, as Butker missed practice again on Thursday. If they do, I have faith he will get the job done.
