The Kansas City Chiefs won their AFC Championship game over the Buffalo Bills. Now that they have won, they can set their focus to the Buccaneers and the Superbowl.
The Chiefs are looking to accomplish a feat that hasn’t been done since 2004 with the Patriots, who were back to back champions. Coming into this game, many people were not sure of Mahomes status. As a matter of fact, whether he would play or not was questionable.
The worry stopped on Friday when Patrick Mahomes announced he was cleared to play. Luckily he did play because his game was needed tonight as he torched Buffalo 38-24.
With a healthy Mahomes, the Chiefs can look unstoppable at times. This game was much of the same story, as Buffalo’s defense couldn’t find an answer.
Now, Kansas City will have two weeks to prepare for the Buccaneers. This also means that the Chiefs will have time to get healthy of any minor injuries they have. Players like Sammy Watkins and Le’Veon Bell will surely need the rest.
On the bad side, left tackle Eric Fisher left this game early. It has been reported that he is dealing with an Achilles injury and will miss the Superbowl.
Enough with the sad news, and on with the good news, in that Kansas City is on to Tampa. Yes, you read that right. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hosting a Superbowl for the first time in NFL history.
However, that does not seem to sway many people in the opposite direction. Kansas City opened up as the favorite to win the Superbowl.
As the current -3.5 favorites over Tampa Bay, Kansas City is looking to repeat as Superbowl Champions. However, in the last four matchups between Brady and Mahomes, the underdog won the game. Either way, this Superbowl is what most people wished for and kicks off February seventh.
