KANSAS CITY – While the Kansas City Chiefs have already finished up their rookie meetings and things of that nature, one of their biggest rivals is starting OTAs on Monday. As Chiefs fans, there are some things you may want to know about one of the teams you play twice a year.
No, we don’t usually do stories like this. However, with how competitive the AFC West will be this year, we wanted to try something new. Chiefs fans love getting the scoop on the teams they hate the most, and that is what this is.
There are three things you should know about the Las Vegas Raiders before they start OTAs on Monday.
Three things to know about the Raiders before OTAs
1. Wide receiver dilemma
The Las Vegas Raiders are a team poised to make some flashy plays this year. They are also favored by some people to finish over the Chiefs. However, this reason should make people reconsider.
While, yes, they did add Davante Adams recently, they still have issues in the wide receiver room.
Adams will obviously be the number one guy like he was in Green Bay. Hunter Renfrow will likely be WR2. But who is the third guy? They lost Zay Jones to the Jaguars and traded Bryan Edwards to the Falcons. The Raiders also added Keelan Cole and Demarcus Robinson. There are just a lot of unknowns in that room right now.
2. The offensive line is still an uncertainty
The Raiders had some issues with the line last year. They allowed 40 sacks last season, which is not good for Carr.
Left tackle Kolton Miller is the only unquestioned starter remaining from the 2021 squad. He’s one of the better players at his position, but other than that, the Raiders are still trying to figure everything out.
3. The Raiders’ 2022 draft class is not that great
The Raiders did not make a first or second-round selection, so it is safe to say their best pick may not have a big impact in 2022. At least, there is definitely a higher chance of a bust with their first pick, considering where he was picked. But Raiders fans will remind you that Hunter Renfrow was taken in the later rounds as if that matters. They can also make the claim that Davante Adams is a surer thing than a rookie draft pick, even if said draft pick is a first- or second-rounder.
Dylan Parham could maybe battle and compete with their offensive line. However, other than that, the two runnings backs they took in Zamir White and Brittain Brown are behind two great backs, already. For a team with one of the top-5 oldest rosters – the Raiders really needed to make sure they found some impactful players in this draft. The jury is certainly in session when it comes to the Raiders offensive line in 2022.
