One of the Kansas City Chiefs‘ biggest games this upcoming season will air in primetime.
The NFL revealed on Thursday morning that Kansas City will travel to Florida in week 4 to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The matchup is scheduled for October 2 and it will be NBC’s Sunday night game.
This will be the sixth meeting between Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.
Brady currently holds a 3-2 edge in the series, with his most recent win coming in Super Bowl LV.
The first two matchups between the two elite quarterbacks came in 2018 with Brady winning both games. Mahomes then won the next two games in 2019 and 2021 (regular season) against Brady (Brady was with the New England Patriots for the first three games in the series).
Mahomes had an excellent game in the 2021 regular season matchup against Brady and the Bucs, passing for 462 yards and three touchdowns.
Kansas City and Tampa Bay are expected to be two of the favorites in the NFL to reach the Super Bowl this season, so it’s very possible that this week four matchup could be an early preview of what we’ll see next February. And if that’s the case, it’ll certainly be a treat for NFL fans. Two marquee quarterbacks going against each other in the biggest sports event of the year would be a dream for the NFL.
