The Kansas City Chiefs faced some adversity in terms of health early in the Week 1 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.
Harrison Butker, maybe the second bet kicker in the league behind Justin Tucker, was injured during a kickoff attempt. He rolled his ankle while kicking the ball, and was seen on the golf cart going off the field. The report was that the swelling was already getting bad.
This was just shortly before the Chiefs got the ball back. They scored pretty quickly, too. So, you can guess what happened next.
Emergency kicker Justin Reid not only did the kickoff after the score, but he also drilled the extra point right through the uprights.
This is the safety we are talking about here. If it comes down to a field goal attempt, or the Chiefs need one sometime during this game, I’m confident he could drill it. I think the Chiefs may be too.
We saw during the preseason, that Reid was doing extra points and field goals as a joke. We never really thought he would actually have to.
He has likely already won over the hearts of Chiefs fans, as he is doing stiff Tyrann Mathieu never could.
