The Kansas City Chiefs recently traded their first-round pick away to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for tackle Orlando Brown. However, they did get back another second-round pick to add to the one they already had.

With their first pick of the 2021 draft, even though it was not on the first day, the Chiefs were able to address a need. As we discussed before, the Chiefs had two major needs coming into the offseason. The first one was the offensive line. However, the Chiefs fixed most of those problems through free agency and the trade market.

The second thing Kansas City needed to address was the linebacker core. Ask some of the die-hard Chiefs fans if they are contempt with Ben Neimenn as their green dot on defense for the years to come. The answer is no; they are not.

Of course, they drafted Willie Gay Jr. last season from Mississippi State. However, he did not play much last year for some odd reason, even though he showed tremendous potential. The guy they drafted tonight also has tremendous potential, and Chiefs fans should be ecstatic for this pick.

Chiefs select Nick Bolton in Second Round of Draft

The Kansas City Chiefs keep it somewhat local and take the linebacker from Missouri in Nick Bolton, who has tremendous upside and potential. Bolton is just the first of the Chiefs two picks in which he will help the team improve and try to get back to the Super Bowl.

There are a few things you all should know about Nick Bolton before he gets to Kansas City. To start, he hits hard, and I mean very hard. Just take a look at some of his tape, and you will see plays that make you say “ouch” every time the clash of shoulder pads makes a loud noise.

Nick Bolton is an elite run stopper, with 77 run stops over the past two seasons, making that the highest mark by any other SEC player in that time span. Stopping the run was once the Kryptonite for Kansas City, and they are now building around that weakness to make it a strength.
