Travis Kelce, the people’s man, has entered a club that he is familiar with. Now the Chiefs have two members of this prestigious club that only the best of the best can get in. Patrick Mahomes has been in this club a few times as well, as has Travis Kelce in the past.
In 2020 and 2019, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were initiated into the Madden 99 club. Yes, a video game club. Why is this so important? Well, it really is not, besides the fact that the overall measurements are usually accurate.
In the last few seasons, Patrick Mahomes and Rams Defensive Lineman Aaron Donald were the two best players in the game. Both players were at 99, which makes a lot of sense.
Now, much like last year, Travis Kelce joins the club as well. How could he not after the season he just had.
Travis Kelce and the other 99 Club Members
No, not 99 members of the club, but the other members of the 99 club, if you get what I’m saying. As of July 28th, only three players have been announced to the club. The three players rated as a 99 overall in Madden 22 are Travis Kelce, Green Bay Packers receiver DeVante Adams, and Los Angeles Rams Defensive Tackle Aaron Donald.
These three players are undoubtedly the best at their position, especially when looking at last season. In terms of Kelce’s 2020 season, he was phenomenal. When you talk about tight ends, you usually don’t see the things he does at that position, at that level.
With 105 receptions (5th among all players), 1,416 receiving yards (2nd of all players), and 11 touchdowns (6th of all players), there is simply nothing this man can’t do.
Soon we could be seeing a teammate of his join the club in Patrick Mahomes. Tyreek Hill was released at a 98, and he could join later this season as well. While none of this really matters, it is fun to think about in a wider spectrum.
