The Las Vegas Raiders are struggling more than any team in the NFL, really. They are one of only two teams to not have a win yet in this young season. Them, and the Houston Texans who are 0-2-1, are now widely considered by the national media to be the two worst teams.

While it seems like the world may be falling apart for Raiders Nation, a bright outlook still exists throughout all this madness.

One positive has been the play of wide receiver Mack Hollins.

“You know what’s awesome is I’m glad you asked about Mack [Hollins],” Derek Carr said when asked how he feels Hollins has played thus far. “Davante [Adams] still has three touchdowns in three games. It’s not like he’s not there. But we are seeing a lot of different coverages, people trying to take him away in different ways, and we talked about this before the season. I said we are going to see a trend.

“First game, Tae [Adams] has all these catches all these yards… And if the other guys can show, like Mack did, he went for what 160, whatever it was he went for a career-high two games in a row. That’s such a testament to his ability, that’s such a testament to his work ethic… For a guy like Mack, you guys know he works so hard, and I’m just so happy for him.”

Hollins has been nothing short of amazing. When he joined the team this year, we had no idea what he would do. So far, he is surpassing everyone’s expectations.

Hollins has 240 receiving yards through three games, which is already a career-high for receiving yards in a single season. Not to mention, he has been in the league since 2017, too, so it isn’t like he is setting a new career high with just two years in the league.

The biggest surprise so far, besides the fact that he is a legit No. 2 receiver, is that he leads the team in receiving yards.

Yep, you read that right.

Hollins has 240 yards on 14 catches, while Adams is second on the team with 17 catches. Waller is third, and Renfrow is fourth on the team.

Hollins is proving everyone wrong, including me. No, I don’t think he would be this good, I’m not going to lie and say I did. However, watching him play, especially last game, it looks like Hollins was never really given a shot. He has the tools, for sure.

Just look at the catch he made in the fourth quarter to bring the Raiders within two of the Titans.

Right now, things are clicking with Hollins. And while you want to get your best players the ball as much as possible, you also want to continue to build on/use the things that work well.

In this case, it’s Hollins. The Raiders may be 0-3, but they won’t be for much longer with guys like Hollins stepping up.
