Josh Jacobs just finished up the best season of his career, as he looks for a new contract. The season he just had probably made the Raiders wish they had extended him last season, or off-season, I should say, because now, they will have to pay the price, literally.

If the Raiders want to keep the best pure running back of the 2022 season on their squad, they are going to have to pay up because Jacobs wants to be back in Las Vegas, but the contract needs to be a good one.

“For me, it’s got to make sense,” Jacobs said to reporters.

“But this is obviously where I want to be. Coming in, I remember sitting down with [defensive end] Maxx [Crosby] and all these guys and talking about the Raiders organization and the culture and wanting to be part of the change. I still feel that way so, hopefully, I’ll be back.”

The Las Vegas Raiders have a chance to make everything right next season and have the year we all thought they would, with their second season in McDaniels’ system. Wouldn’t they want their best offensive player not named Davante Adams back for 2023?

I’m sure the fans would, and their opinion does matter, especially after a bad season where they could be losing a lot of interest.

McDaniels has talked highly of Jacobs all season long and had even more high praise after the season ended.

“Obviously JJ’s performance was a huge bright spot for us,” McDaniels said. “I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for him as a person and as a player and he kind of embodies all the things that we want a Raider to be.

“Dave [Zigler] and I have talked about that; JJ and I have had private conversations about those kinds of things. I think all that will play out in due time. But love him and would love to have him continue to be a Raider.”

Hopefully, the Raiders make the right choice. Everyone wants Jacobs in the silver and black next season, and him in an offense that we have seen be successful whether it be at times this season or in New England, would be amazing.
