The Las Vegas Raiders will have a better defense in 2022 than they did last year. One of the more underrated players on this defense is why.

Last season the defensive coverage was okay. This year, it should be much better, simply because of the names they have on the roster.

Rock Ya-Sin is one of those guys. He doesn’t get talked about enough, but he will be one of the better cornerbacks on this team and one of the more underrated corners in the AFC. He was recently put on a very important list for the 2023 offseason.

Raiders’ Ya-Sin listed as an important free agent in 2023

According to Gregg Rosenthal of, the Raiders’ cornerback Rock Ya-Sin is one of the highest valued players entering free agency next year. The now fourth-year cornerback will be a player that everyone will want on their team, which is why he was listed as the 24th player on a list of the top 25 free agents in 2023. There was only one player ranked lower than Ya-Sin, J.J. Watt.

Here is why Rosenthal selected Ya-Sin as the 24th player:

“This is a bit of a projection, but I love Ya-Sin’s toughness and ability to play press-man coverage on the outside. Look for the corner back to enjoy a big debut season in Vegas.”

I think this list definitely means something. If the Raiders end up having a great season on the defensive end, it will likely be because of the coverage and press defense. They already have the pass rushers and run stoppers in Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones. Now, they need the secondary to step up, and this could be the year.

Ya-Sin could have a really great season in this defensive system coached by Patrick Graham. If so, I think the Raiders need to do everything they can to make sure Ya-Sin does not make this list when the 2023 offseason is actually here. They need to sign Ya-Sin this offseason if his production is there.
