The Minnesota Vikings first big move of the offseason so far is firing Ed Donatell from his position. Leaving the Defensive Coordinator position open following a tumultuous year on the side of the ball.

Wasting no time at all, General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell are looking to fill the position.

This time, in a similar manner to O’Connell, in the young and up-and-coming ranks.

It’s reported that the Vikings are interested and have requested an interview with Sean Desai. The Associate Head Coach and Defensive Assistant for the Seattle Seahawks.

Desai, who turns 40 in April, spent seven seasons in the college ranks before finally making his break into the NFL.

Spending nine seasons in Chicago as the Bears. Going from a defensive quality control coach, secondaries coach and eventually one season as DC in 2021. Not being retained following the firing of Matt Nagy.

Being hired by Seattle this past off-season.

It’s clear with Adofo-Mensah, O’Connell and Offensive Coordinator Wes Phillips, the Minnesota Vikings are going with a youth movement. All three men being under the age of 45. Desai would make it a clean slate.

A youth movement after having Mike Zimmer running the show for so long is a welcomed change. Pushing the Vikings into the future with coaches and personnel who’re not that much older than the players they coach.

Expect more to develop.
