The King of the Tennessee Titans backfield is up to his usual ways once again in 2021. Fresh off a historic 2020 rushing campaign, Derrick Henry is set to break even more records this season. His domination continued in Week 5 against what is seemingly his favorite opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Henry ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries.

His career stats against the Jags are an absolute marvel.

At his current pace, Henry will smash some very impressive NFL records this season.
  • Most carries in a season (482)
  • Most rush yards in a season (2,176)
  • Most offensive touches in a season (529)
  • First RB to follow up 2,000 yard rushing season with 1,500 yard rushing season
  • First RB to have back-to-back 2,000 yard seasons
  • First RB to lead NFL in rushing 3 straight years since Emmitt Smith
  • 4th RB in NFL history to lead NFL in rushing 3 straight years (Jim Brown, Earl Campbell, Emmitt Smith)

There will be even more records added to this list if the Titans running back continues his insane output.

Henry even clinched a couple more impressive statistical achievements this past weekend.

Being the sole player alongside Jim Brown on any list is quite the accomplishment. Not to mention, no other player has been able to accomplish this feat in the least 60+ years.

That list of names further proves the dominance of Derrick Henry over the past few seasons. Keep in mind the years when those players played in the league. The NFL’s product has changed a whole lot since the 1960s-1990s.

Regardless, Henry just keeps producing and setting league records. The Titans will continue to feed him no matter what year it is.
