The Tennessee Titans are arguably in the best possible position they could have hoped for as they enter the playoffs. Their win in Week 18 secured the top seed in the AFC and a first-round bye. Derrick Henry looks set to return fully healthy and rested in the divisional round. Head Coach Mike Vrabel has an interesting resume after extra rest, too.

This should be yet another confidence builder for Titans fans. Not only will their star running back be fresh, but history shows that their head coach gets the troops ready when they have extra time to prepare. That time is not wasted or taken for granted.

The extended rest helps other Titans players get healthier, too. Key pieces like David Long Jr., A.J. Brown, and Julio Jones have all fought through multiple injuries this year. The offensive line has seen its fair share of banged-up performances as well. Regardless, this break gives them a better chance to rest and reset.

It will also be intriguing to see the balance between the usage of Derrick Henry and the other Titans RBs. Possibly, there may be a lack of balance, and Henry is back to his normal workload. In any case, the performances of D’onta Foreman and Dontrell Hilliard have been vital to getting the team to this point.

Also, expect the Titans defense to be as fresh as ever after this rest. They did not have their best showing in the second half against the Texans in the final game of the regular season. A bounce-back performance could certainly be in the cards. The unit has been playing lights out for most of the second half of the season.

There’s always a chance of rust when returning from extra time off for teams, so that is a possibility. Vrabel and his track record seem to sway off that being a likelihood, though.
