For the Titans, their defense runs through two players. Those two are safety Kevin Byard and defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons. Both cornerstones, they each play such an important role on the unit. Simmons has become one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the NFL, and folks are noticing.

Simmons made a jump of 24 spots in this year’s poll compared to last year’s. He is deserving of it, and he may have deserved to be even higher. His sack numbers may not jump off the page, but his impact in both the run and pass game is clear on tape.

in 2022, he recorded 8.5 sacks, 12 TFLs, and 6 pass deflections. Those were all career highs.

The young Titans defensive lineman will look to continue to improve upon those numbers this year alongside one of the best DL in the league. Simmons has begun to eclipse the “underrated” status as many people put him in the same category as players like Chiefs DL Chris Jones and Colts DL DeForest Buckner.

He belongs in the tier with those stars. The newest NFL Top 100 list believes so as well.
