2019 four-star quarterback Alante Brown tweeted his top schools on Tuesday and the Tennessee Vols are among his top five.

Brown, 5-foot-10/181 lbs from Chicago, IL, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 player in the state of Illinois and the No. 27 wide receiver in the nation.

The Chicago native, who played quarterback in high school, was previously committed to Michigan State. Brown, who runs a 4.57 in the 40-yard dash, decommitted from the Spartans last weekend after taking an official visit to Florida State.

What’s interesting about the Vols being in Brown’s top five is that Tennessee, according to 247Sports and Rivals, hasn’t offered the dynamic wide receiver.

But perhaps that will be changing soon.

Tennessee only has a few spots left in their 2019 recruiting class. Some of their current top targets are Henry To’oto’o, Chris Russell and George Pickens (if he can qualify).

The latest rumblings suggests that To’oto’o could be on his way to Alabama or Washington, and Arkansas is very much in the mix for Russell.

That means the Vols could take a surprise player, someone like Brown, on signing day like they did last season with wide receiver Cedric Tillman.

Because of the early signing period, there won’t be a ton of drama next week on National Signing Day.

But there might be a surprise or two in store for Tennessee.
