Vanderbilt football is hoping to make a big splash during the 2020 recruiting cycle.
Arik Gilbert, a 2020 four-star athlete from Marietta, GA, tweeted on Monday that he received a scholarship offer from the Commodores. And he appeared to be pretty excited about it.
Grateful to receive an offer from a program that has produced 40+ All-Americans and a University that ranks among THE BEST in the country (No. 14 – US News & World Report) — Vanderbilt University! @VandyFootball#AnchorDownpic.twitter.com/2EnHsb0fgT

Gilbert, 6-foot-5/248 pounds, is rated by 247Sports as the top athlete in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Georgia.
In addition to his offer from Vanderbilt, Gilbert also holds notable offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee and USC, among several others.
It’s obviously going to be tough for the Commodores to land Gilbert over elite programs like Alabama and Georgia. But it’s at least interesting that Gilbert seems impressed by Vanderbilt’s academics. Perhaps he’ll shock the world and choose a school based on more than where they rank in the polls.
The Commodores, for what it’s worth, landed two four-star recruits during the 2018 recruiting cycle.
Vandy currently doesn’t have any commits to their 2020 recruiting class.
