A New Orleans Saints rookie saw his season end this week before it could even get started.
The Saints placed rookie safety Smoke Monday on IR on Friday due to a torn ACL.
Monday confirmed the news via his Instagram account.

Monday was picked up by the Saints as an undrafted free agent back in April.
The former Auburn standout was one of the rare undrafted free agents that looked like he had a solid chance to make the 53-man roster. Monday had been receiving consistent praise for his work this spring.
Monday has some deficiencies in his game. He lacks top end speed and he can get confused in the secondary at times. But the kid absolutely loves football. He decided against opting out of Auburn’s bowl game because he couldn’t pass up the chance to play one game. If healthy, Monday would’ve provided some special teams value and it’s possible he could’ve carved out a role on defense.
Hopefully the former SEC standout can get healthy over the next year and give it another shot next summer/fall. He’s the type of player that’s good for football in general.
