I don’t think it was on purpose, but New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marquez Callaway insulted one of his teammates on Thursday.
Callaway pointed out to reporters that Saints backup quarterback Andy Dalton doesn’t throw the ball as hard as starter Jameis Winston.
And with the cold weather in London (New Orleans plays the Minnesota Vikings in London on Sunday), Callaway said it’s been nice not having to catch darts from Winston.
WR Marquez Callaway said that Dalton doesn't throw it as hard as Winston and with how cold it's been in London, that's been nice #Saints— Erin Summers (@ErinESummers) September 29, 2022
Callaway definitely wasn’t throwing shade at his teammate, but I’m sure Dalton has to feel some kind of way after hearing that comment.
I mean, if you’re an NFL quarterback, the last thing you want to hear is someone saying you don’t throw the ball that hard.
For now, it’s unclear if Winston, who is dealing with a back injury, will play against the Vikings on Sunday.
#Saints OC Pete Carmichael said the plan changed in regards to Winston practicing as the day unfolded but hopes he’s out there tomorrow. Ultimately, he said, the decision on if Winston is held out this weekend lies with the trainers and head coach Dennis Allen.— Erin Summers (@ErinESummers) September 29, 2022
If Winston can’t go, it’ll be Dalton and his not-as-strong arm that gets the start.Could not load the poll.
