New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara posted a cryptic message on his Instagram story on Wednesday that has fans worried about his future with the franchise.

Kamara posted a photo of his locker being cleaned out with a couple of shrug emojis.

The fact that Kamara is cleaning out his locker isn’t news. That’s what teams that don’t make the playoffs usually do this time of year.

It’s the shrug emojis that Kamara added that’s perplexing.

Ultimately, though, I don’t think this is anything fans should be concerned about.

The Saints almost certainly aren’t releasing Kamara — not when they would be hit with a $25.5 million dead cap hit if they waive the former Tennessee Vols standout.

That would leave a trade as the only option.

A trade, by the way, would come with a nearly $20 million dead cap hit, so that seems unlikely as well.

Plus, I seriously doubt the Saints are having trade talks with any team when the regular season just ended two weeks ago. And because of the dead cap situation, it’s not like New Orleans can tell Kamara right now that they’re moving on from him after the season because they don’t know if that is even possible at this point.

I think this is just another cryptic social media post like we see from athletes seemingly every day. And usually, there’s nothing to those posts.

This feels like a “nothing-to-see-here” deal.
