Sean Payton has been one of the hottest names around the NFL as of late.

No one knows where he is going, but it seems like the New Orleans Saints will trade him during this off-season. There have been some rumored destinations, but only time will tell.

Today, a new possibility opened their doors for the Saints and Payton.

The Arizona Cardinals fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury. They also announced that they are moving on from general manager Steve Keim.

Both received contract extensions before this season. it did not matter after another disappointing campaign in Arizona.

The Cardinals currently hold the third overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. That means they also have the 34th pick, too.

The Saints will most likely have a bidding-type of situation when it comes to Payton. Multiple teams will be interested, and they may get multiple offers.

Nobody is beating an offer from Arizona if they include the third overall pick. That’s easier said than done, though.

That would be an extremely high price even for a proven elite head coach in Payton.

So, the 34th overall pick may come into play. It isn’t a first-round pick, but its very early in the second and could be combined with another early selection in the 2024 draft.

Regardless, the Saints are going to look for the best deal for them. Payton’s preference will play a role, but it’s ultimately up to the Saints at the end of the day.

The Broncos are already interested in the former Saints HC, and other suitors could emerge in the coming weeks.

The Cardinals could provide the Saints with the most impressive trade package of draft picks if they decide to take the biggest risk for Payton.
