Wide receiver Kawaan Baker hasn’t enjoyed the most conventional training camp.
And on Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints announced a six-game regular season suspension for Baker due to his violation of the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

What happened to Kawaan Baker
Baker is a 2021 seventh-round draft selection. Last season he was a staple on the practice squad. Heading into training camp, he aimed to make the official 53-man New Orleans roster. But with him suspended for nearly a third of the season, it’s hard to believe the organization will keep him.
To his benefit, Baker would not count against New Orleans’ 53-man roster until he returns from suspension. Also to Baker’s benefit, he can participate in all preseason practices and games and is eligible to return to the active roster in Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
In Baker’s rookie season, he appeared in two games and played 27 total snaps — none on offense. That small sample size, combined with the suspension, could lead the coaching staff to look elsewhere when it comes to filling out the roster.
