The Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the more fortunate teams this season when it comes to dealing with serious injuries to key players. Yeah, they have had some, just not as bad as a lot of other teams.

Luckily for them, when injuries did occur to key players, the depth pieces behind those guys stepped up.

Just last week on Monday Night Football, tight end Dallas Goedert was pulled to the ground by his face mask, and his shoulder was injured.

He was placed on the injured reserve list shortly after, forcing him to miss at least four games. But, as we said earlier, luckily the Eagles have great depth.

Jack Stoll, the backup tight end, came out and did his job on Sunday against the Colts. It may not have wowed anyone, but I think most people saw what he was doing.

“Obviously Jack Stoll got the majority of the snaps… and I know the production in the passing game obviously wasn’t there but I think they did a nice job and did their jobs,” Sirianni said on Monday. “We had a couple of penalties there… I really did believe that Jack, you know, Jack is a dirty work guy, right?

“Of the tight ends, he is kind of like the Zach Pascal of the wide receivers, right? They may not stuff the stats sheet but the things they are doing are helping us win the game and be productive. Jack played an outstanding football game, again, the reps will come for the other guys… I thought Jack was outstanding in his role yesterday.”

Stoll has played over 50% of the offensive snaps just three times this year, and last week he played 81%. He had one catch for seven yards on one target, but as Sirianni said, he did way more than that.

Stoll played special teams, and he was a crucial part of the blocking during the run game.

It may not look or feel like it, but the Eagles have great depth, especially at their skill positions. No, Stoll isn’t a Travis Kelce or even a Dallas Goedert for that matter.

However, he played his role, and he helped the team get back in the win column. The Eagles needed their depth to play a crucial role in the game and they did just that.
