The Philadelphia Eagles received some positive news just a few days before a key showdown with the Tennessee Titans.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday morning that Philadelphia has opened the 21-day practice window for defensive tackle Jordan Davis, which means it’s possible he plays on Sunday against the Titans.

Davis was selected by the Eagles in the first round (No. 13 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The former Georgia standout was viewed as one of the most impressive “athletic freaks” in the draft this past spring.

Davis has an extremely rare size/speed combination that causes defensive coordinators to drool and offensive coordinators to have nightmares. The massive defensive lineman ran the 40-yard dash in 4.78 seconds at the combine. According to The Athletic, Davis’ 40-time was the fastest at the combine by a player over 310 lbs since 2003.

Philly could certainly use Davis on Sunday against the Titans. Tennessee running back Derrick Henry is one of the best players in the NFL and slowing him down isn’t easy (good luck tackling him). Davis is one of the few players in the NFL that’s enough of a freak athlete to possibly get the best of Henry.

If Davis makes his debut on Sunday, the matchup between him and Henry will be a must-watch.
