The Philadelphia Eagles will battle the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Conference Championship in 2023.

Both defenses are absolutely elite. They may get a lot of attention as the game approaches this week. On offense, the quarterback matchup is both intriguing and exciting for fans.

On one side, the Eagles have an MVP candidate in Jalen Hurts at QB.

Hurts is arguably the most well-balanced quarterback in the NFL with his dynamic athleticism. The Eagles QB may not be quite 100% healthy, but his talent is undeniable. Philly is so much better on offense with him at the helm.

On the other side, the 49ers have one of the best stories in the NFL this season in Brock Purdy.

Purdy was the final pick of last year’s NFL Draft, deemed “Mr. Irrelevant” by that selection. He was inconsistent at Iowa State, but the 49ers clearly saw something in him. Now, he is playing pretty well, and the 49ers are exactly where they hoped to be at the beginning of the season.

They 49ers are just one win away from the Super Bowl, but the Eagles are as well.

For Hurts and Purdy, they have some compelling history from their time in college football.

Hurts’ team got the better of Purdy when they faced each other in college. Oklahoma beat Iowa State 42-41.

From a statistical standpoint, Hurts narrowly gained more total yardage than Purdy in that matchup. He threw for 273 yards and ran for 68 more. Purdy threw for 282 yards and ran for 55.

Hurts recorded five total touchdowns, while Purdy had six total touchdowns. It was an offensive explosion for both teams, and both QBs dominated throughout the game.

This weekend, both teams would be shocked to see their quarterback put up numbers like those.

Regardless, both have proven that they can lead their teams to explosive offensive performances in both college football and the NFL.

This storyline only adds fuel to the fire for a great NFC Championship matchup between the Eagles and 49ers.
