The Philadelphia Eagles lost their first preseason game, but there were a lot of positives for them to take away from it. Quarterback Jalen Hurts was perfect on his drive. Young defenders like Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis stood out. Nick Sirianni showed some emotion. Former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky had some thoughts about one connection on the offense.

Orlovsky broke down the touchdown throw from Hurts to tight end Dallas Goedert. He felt like the Eagles QB showed impressive timing and ball placement on the throw. Those factors allowed Goedert to bounce off of a couple defenders and jump into the end zone for a score.

He’s correct, too. Hurts diagnosed the coverage quickly and “threw Goedert open” as some say. He didn’t attempt to hit him where he was, but rather, he set the Eagles TE up for success after the catch. Trust between the two plays a key role in the connection as well.

These traits by Hurts will be paramount this season. He struggled with both of them at times last season. If he has made strides in those areas like Orlovsky says, the Eagles will be a very dangerous, well-balanced offense.
