The Pittsburgh Steelers couldn’t have asked for a better start on defense versus the AFC Champions. The Cincinnati Bengals – coming into the game as 7-point favorites – were asked to immediately respect the Steelers’ defense.
On the first play of the game, Cam Heyward got the best of rookie guard Cordell Volson for the sack. One play later, points were on the board for Pittsburgh.
Minkah Fitzpatrick, who was playing a deep half of the field and was there to make the play on Joe Burrow’s first pass of the day.
In both plays, it looked like the Steelers had Burrow quite confused.
An underrated part of the play has to be in the return. Just look at T.J. Watt sending Burrow flying like a helicopter with his block on the return. Speaking of Watt, he got almost had an interception at the line later in the following drive.
