TAMPA BAY – As a whole, the Buccaneers are in solid shape as they enter the draft. But, if there’s one position that’s in obvious need of both help and youth – it’s the defensive line.
Ndamukong Suh is still an option and there has been zero indication he won’t return for another season with the Buccaneers. But even if he returns, the Buccaneers need to spend one of their top-3 picks on the defensive front.
Former head coach Bruce Arians talked about how the Bucs needed to find a guy on the defensive line who can get after the quarterbacks, first and foremost. He said there is plenty of strength in their group – they need more quickness.
It’s unclear if new head coach Todd Bowles feels the same way, but it’s very likely he does. There are a handful of prospects that have this trait and there are a couple that should be available in the first couple of rounds of the draft. However, the most ideal scenario for the Buccaneers would be for Georgia defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt to be at No. 27 when the Bucs make their pick.
Well, with just a little over 24 hrs away, there is good news for the Buccaneers. BetMGM‘s latest over/under prop for Wyatt has the line drawn at 29.5. If he falls to 27, that would be a major win for the Buccaneers. From an outsider’s perspective, at least.
Wyatt has been regularly mocked inside the top-20 picks of the draft, so it would be a surprise to see him fall to 27, much less 29 or 30. It would be a major surprise if the Buccaneers passed on him at 27.
In other words: take the under.
