Rob Gronkowski, one of the most well-known NFL players of this era, called it quits on Tuesday.
Gronk, who was a free agent and most recently played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, announced his retirement on Tuesday via a social media post.
Gronk is only 33 and although he’s made plenty of money in his NFL career, he’s still going to need a job of some sort (he’s actually quite frugal and once claimed that he hasn’t spent any of his NFL money).
He’ll most likely end up doing various endorsements and appearances to make ends meet.
But what if Gronk wanted a real job? What if he just wants to work in the real world for a change?
If that’s the case, then I think there are five jobs that would be absolutely perfect for one of the best tight ends to ever play the game.
5. Boat captain
Gronk alluded to “sailing the seas” in his goodbye post which makes this an obvious choice.
Captain Gronk has a nice ring to it, right?
The only question here is what kind of boat would Gronk captain? Probably not a crab boat, those seem to be quite dangerous and likely require a skilled captain. Maybe Gronk could captain a deep-sea fishing boat down in the Florida Keys. That seems like a nice location for the former Arizona star.
This is a no-brainer. Gronk would be the ideal bartender. Fun, upbeat, lots of stories from his NFL days, and he’ll probably have a few drinks with you. Not to mention, Gronk will become the party once midnight comes.
3. Cruise ship entertainment director
If you combine boat captain and bartender into a job, you get a cruise ship entertainment director.
This would be the most lit cruise ship ever with Gronk running the show. I imagine it would be a great mix of stand-up comedy mixed with a rager of a party every night.
And really, isn’t that all you need on a cruise ship? Good booze, good laughs, and good times.
2. Middle school PE teacher
I assume every PE teacher once dreamed of being a pro athlete. Gronk could flip the script.
Imagine Gronk playing wiffle ball with a bunch of eighth-graders. I once had a PE teacher that would try to pitch the ball (wrapped in tape to make it harder) as close as he could to us. Obviously, we got hit a lot. But it was the 90s and no one cared back then. Gronk would probably be the same way. You know he’d just be out there dominating kids in basketball and football and loving every second of it.
1. Wedding DJ
There are two types of weddings — boring and not boring.
If Gronk is the DJ, you can be assured it’ll never be boring.
There’s no one out there that likes to party (responsibly…somewhat) and have a good time more than Gronk. So why not have your special day include some Gronk-inspired tunes? It would be unforgettable, that’s for sure.
