The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a nice selection early on day two of the 2022 NFL Draft by selecting Arizona State running back Rachaad White with the No. 91 overall pick.

White had an impressive senior season at Arizona State, rushing for 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns while adding 43 receptions for 456 yards and a touchdown.

The pick by Tampa Bay was so nice, in fact, that another NFL team called White’s camp on day three of the draft to inform him they were considering drafting him in the fourth round.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler detailed what went down (without naming which team tried to draft White) on Monday:

Here’s a funny story I heard on Day 3 of the draft about Tampa Bay’s new running back, Rachaad White: On Saturday, White’s camp got a call from a team notifying that it was looking to take White early in the fourth round. Only one problem: White was already the 91st overall pick, going late in Friday night’s third round. White’s camp jokingly responded that Tampa Bay, White’s new team, probably wouldn’t want to unselect him.

It’s good to know that the NFL draft is a lot like a fantasy football draft — there’s always that one guy who isn’t paying attention and tries to draft a player that went several rounds earlier.

If I had to guess — and this is totally a guess — I’d go with the Houston Texans being the team that tried to draft White twice. The Texans seem like the team most likely to be inattentive during the draft. And they also selected a running back early in the fourth round.

The Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots, and Tennessee Titans also selected running backs in the fourth round, though I’m still sticking with the Texans as my guess.
