Bills: Von Miller opens up on Odell Beckham Jr to Buffalo rumblings
Brandon Beane is working his magic.
The Buffalo Bills have been busy this off-season.
Whether it's re-negotiated contracts, re-signings, or extensions, Brandon Beane and the front office have been hard at work.
It appears the main focus, recently, has been to clear up some cap space. Contract restructures for Stefon Diggs, Josh Allen, and Von Miller put the team in a much more favorable position. The extra cap space allows the team to retain their upcoming draft picks and potentially make a splash move with a coveted free agent.
While Brandon Beane has come out and said there would be no "Von Miller-esque" type splash signings, he also said that before they signed Von Miller—all that to say, you never know what the front office is up to.
One of the most substantial rumors dating back to early last season was that of Odell Beckham Jr to Buffalo. Von Miller has been vocal about trying to recruit the superstar wide receiver. What's more, Brandon Beane outright called Beckham Jr by name in a press conference. Thus, igniting the mafia.
As the season went on, the chatter died a little bit. Odell Beckham Jr was reportedly not willing to do a physical for teams. Other rumors indicated he wanted a multi-year deal while others discussed the talented receiver wanting $20M a season. Beckham Jr was quick to shut down those rumors personally on social media.
The Odell Beckahm Jr to Buffalo hype train resurrected last week when the Super Bowl-winning wide receiver held a workout in Arizona. The Buffalo Bills were reportedly in attendance, checking to see how close Beckham Jr really is to a comeback.
Fast-forward to now where Jordan Schultz, NFL Insider, fueled the flame once again with an OBJ to Buffalo announcement.
Once again, it's reported Brandon Beane and company are interested in the talented wide receiver. While nothing has been guaranteed, where there's smoke, there's fire. It wouldn't be surprising if the two parties have been having significant conversations dating back to last year.
Buffalo made their move in that OBJ is now having dinner with the Bills' franchise quarterback. Von Miller gave the crucial update on the Pat McAfee show, verifying the rumors of the teams' latest recruiting tactics.
Miller updated the NFL world that OBJ has been hanging out in Buffalo. What's more, he's having dinner at Josh Allen's house and hanging around the facility.
This is the ultimate sales tactic, outside of the work that Von Miller is doing. It doesn't appear Beane will want to bite at the $20M a year price tag. However, OBJ may have dispelled the cost needed for his services with a recent tweet.
The Bills Mafia will continue to keep a close eye on the OBJ situation. Protecting and giving Josh Allen weapons is sure to make the fanbase excited for next season.
An offense with Stefon Diggs, Odell Beckham Jr, and Josh Allen would be electric. Let's see what the front office can pull off.
