The Green Bay Packers were excited about the health of David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins heading into the 2023 season, but that excitement has quickly faded after just two games.
The Packers ruled out Bakhtiari before the game started because of the lingering knee issues he's having since tearing his ACL in 2020. Then, the offense lost two-time Pro Bowler, Elgton Jenkins, for the game when he injured his knee during the first half. He was later ruled out at halftime.
"There's concern anytime a guy goes out of the game and isn't able to finish, then there's concern," Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters after the game.
That concern, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, is that Jenkins has a sprained MCL. He is supposed to get an MRI on Monday in order to determine the extent of the damage.
Most MCL sprains last about 2-4 weeks and they typically don't require surgery, so it's not all gloom and doom for Jenkins and the Packers offensive line. But, it's certainly an absence that would have a big effect on the front five, especially if Bakhtiari continues to miss games.
LaFleur will speak to the media on Monday, so there could be an update, then. If not, we'll hear something by Wednesday, at the latest.
