The Indianapolis Colts had a former 2nd-round pick WR in for a visit Tuesday.
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston shared that KJ Hamler visited the Colts today.
Hamler was drafted in the 2nd round with the 46th pick of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos out of Penn State.
His rookie season in 2020 was the most successful of his career, as he appeared in 13 games, totaling 30 receptions, 381 yards, and three touchdowns. Since his rookie year, though Hamler has struggled to stay on the field, his sophomore year would be cut short after just three games due to a torn ACL. His third season would also end on IR due to a hamstring injury after seven games.
But none of those injuries are as serious as the reason KJ Hamler elected to step away from football early this offseason due to being diagnosed with a heart condition called pericarditis. He shared at the time that he would step away to deal with this condition but planned to be back on the field this season. His visit with the Colts today seems to point towards the WR being ready to return to the field. And with the Colts only having 4 WRs on the active roster, their interest in Hamler shouldn't come as a shock.
