On Sunday, any dream the Las Vegas Raiders had came crashing down. It stayed as that – just a dream because that's all it ever was.

This team, with Josh McDaniels as the head coach to start the year and Antonio Pierce as the interim head coach cleaning up his huge mess, was never going to make the playoffs, even if they made us think at times that they could compete with the other best 16 teams in the NFL.

But that shortly ran out. Before Week 17, Weeks 15 and 16 were by far the best weeks of the whole season. They featured a franchise record of 63 points and a win over the Chargers, which got their head coach fired, and Week 17 as a road win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

So, for a minute, it made everyone think the playoffs could happen. But this offense isn't built for that, and we should have known. We were reminded of that against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday when their dreams all came crashing down.

Now, the Raiders are eliminated from playoff contention after a 23-20 loss to the Colts, who aren't a bad team at all. The more frustrating part of it all is that there were plenty of winnable games this season that the Raiders blew. There were plenty of one-score games the Raiders could have just won, and we would be having a different conversation right now.

But instead, they end the playoff hopes one week before the season's end, leaving everyone on their toes.
