The Minnesota Vikings had several things go their way in Week 7.

For starters, getting a win over one of the best teams in the NFC is huge. Then, the Vikings got some help as the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers both suffered losses.

This series of events could completely change the way the team approaches the 2023 trade deadline.

The Vikings played their most complete game of the season in Week 7, and it led to a 22-17 victory over the 49ers. The defense forced turnovers, the offense made plays, and the coaches drew up a solid game plan.

The Lions suffered a blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens and the Packers suffered a tough loss in Denver to the Broncos. The Lions still maintain a two-game lead over the Vikes, but division play has barely gotten started. The Vikings are 1-0 in the NFC North after beating the Bears, and have a pivotal meeting with the Packers at Lambeau coming up next.

After this game, the Vikes won't play another divisional foe until the end of November. The Vikings and Lions don't play for the first time until Christmas Eve! The point is, that the division is easily still up for grabs, and this could lead to the Vikings buying as opposed to selling at the deadline.
