Kevin O'Connell recently praised one of his receivers and talked about the impact the player could make upon return from injury.
Jalen Nailor was placed on injured reserve in September after dealing with calf and hamstring injuries dating back to the summer.
The Vikings recently opened :Nailor's 21-day practice window, and the receiver could be ready to play as soon as Monday night.
Speaking with the media this weekend, O'Connell was asked what Nailor could potentially bring to this offense.
"Yeah, I think you guys have always known how excited I am about Jalen and his potential fit in our offense as a, he’s really a Swiss Army-type guy that we can honestly play at two or three spots but also just his growth as a route runner, his ability to win versus man," O'Connell explained.
Last season, Nailor demonstrated his deep-play ability by gaining 179 yards on just 9 catches. The receiver didn't get too involved with the offense last season, but that should be different now.
The Vikings currently have just Jordan Addison, KJ Osborn, Brandon Powell, and N'Keal Harry on the 53-man roster. Justin Jefferson will miss at least the next three games, so Nailor should have an opportunity to work his way into the team's plans.
It's still unknown if Nailor can go Monday, but he is inching closer.
"We’ll see how he does, we’ll see how he responds to the work today and then see if he can go on Monday night," O'Connell said.
