  1. See every team's odds. We simulate the rest of the season thousands of times and count how often each team makes the 12-team playoff.
  2. Pick any game. Tap a team to make them the winner. Both teams' strength updates the way it would after a real result, and every team's odds update nationwide.
  3. Sim the rest. Use "Sim this week" or "Sim to Selection Day" — your picks stay locked.
  4. Pick the title games. "Title games" (after the last week) shows each conference's likely championship matchups. Pick a winner — the pick follows that team if it gets there.
  5. Make the bracket yours. Your picks shape the projected bracket — tap See the Bracket on any page. Tap any team to send it through, or edit the 12 to swap in any team. It follows the 2026 rules, so every Power 4 champion and the top Group of 6 team stay in.

Frequently asked questions

How does the College Football Playoff Predictor work?

It plays out the rest of the 2026 season 6,000 times. Each game's odds come from A to Z Sports team ratings, which update inside each simulated season as results come in. In every simulated season it applies each conference's official tiebreakers to set the title games, projects the CFP ranking with a committee model fit to every final CFP ranking from 2014 through 2025, and fills the 12-team field under the 2026 rules. A team's playoff odds are the share of simulated seasons in which it makes the field.

What is the 2026 College Football Playoff format?

Twelve teams make the 2026 College Football Playoff. The champions of the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC get automatic bids, and so does the highest-ranked team from the Group of 6 conferences (American, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West, Pac-12 and Sun Belt), which no longer has to be a conference champion. Notre Dame is in if it finishes in the top 12 of the final CFP ranking. The highest-ranked remaining teams fill the field. Teams are seeded by their final ranking: seeds 1–4 get first-round byes, and seeds 5–8 host first-round games on campus.

Can I pick the winners of games?

Yes. Tap a team in any game to make it the winner, and every team's playoff, conference and title odds update with your pick. You can also sim a whole week or the rest of the season, pick the conference championship games, and undo any pick.

How often are the playoff odds updated?

After each week's games. The date of the latest update is shown on every page; this version was updated October 18, 2026 with results through Week 7.

Are these the official College Football Playoff rankings?

No. These are projections from the A to Z Sports model, not the CFP selection committee's ranking. The committee releases its first ranking of the 2026 season on November 3 and the final ranking on Selection Day, December 6.

How are conference tiebreakers handled?

Every simulated season applies each conference's published tiebreaker procedure to decide who plays in its championship game. Steps that depend on numbers no one publishes in advance, such as a computer rating or the CFP ranking, are estimated. Each conference page lists its tiebreaker steps and how often ties happen.

Can I build and share my own playoff bracket?

Yes. Tap See the Bracket on any page. Your picks shape the projected bracket; tap any team to send it through, or edit the 12 to swap in another team as long as the 2026 rules allow it. Download your bracket as an image, or copy a link that keeps your picks.

Is the predictor free?

Yes. It's free to use and no account is needed. Your picks are saved on your device and in the link you share.
