The sports world exploded this morning when rumors about former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees' safety began to flurry.

Two days ago, Brees tweeted that he was flying to a ‘top-secret’ location to film an ad for PointsBet Sportsbook. That top-secret location was in Catatumbo, Venezuela. It is one of the most dangerous places in the world for lightning strikes.

Then, today, a video comes out that seemingly shows Brees getting struck by lightning while filming a commercial. Folks were searching for the truth about the entire situation.

PointsBet did not do a good job of clarifying what was going on, so speculation flowed.

Luckily, the entire situation was planned. It was just a spoof by the company.

That's enough about them, though. Their lack of awareness as they tried to get attention doesn't deserve much breakdown.

The best part was the reaction to all of the controversy by the former Saints' QB.

As you can see, Brees isn't done trolling the Falcons.

He joked that the lightning "struck" him because it thought he was wearing an Atlanta jersey. He could never actually do such a thing.

The situation turned out to be one to laugh about for Saints' fans. That being said, it was quite a nerve-racking morning before all of the details came out.

Brees got another hilarious win over the Falcons today.
