Anonymous coaches select two Bears draft picks as sleeper picks in 2022 and beyond

CHICAGO – The Bears made a bunch of moves on Day 3 of the draft that eventually turned three picks into eight, giving them a total of 11 draft picks in their 2022 class.
It was a smart move by Poles to add as much draft capital as possible. The draft is a crapshoot in itself, but the guessing game kicks into high gear once teams get past Round 4. After that, teams are mostly looking for quality backups and effective special teamers.
There's still a chance for teams to find a diamond in a rough, however. We aren't talking about a Tom Brady-type player/career, but players such as Tyreek Hill, George Kittle, Stefon Diggs, Antonio Brown, Marques Colston, and Julian Edelman careers (all fifth round picks or later) can certainly be found in the later rounds of the draft.
But in order to find those types of players, you need as many picks as you can get. The more picks, the better the odds of finding an under-the-radar stud. Which is exactly why Poles made the moves he did.
And apparently, two of the players he picked in fifth-rounder Dominique Robinson and seventh-rounder Elijah Hicks have been labeled as "sleepers" by anonymous Power-5 coaches in a recent ESPN piece.
Making the case for both players
We've already detailed Hicks' career at Cal and how his versatility and playmaking ability should come in handy for a Bears secondary in need of both traits. However, it's still important to note that he was one of his conference's best players at his respective position, evidenced by his First-Team All-Pac-12 selection in 2021.
Hicks finds himself behind safeties Eddie Jackson, rookie Jaquan Brisker, Dane Cruikshank, and DeAndre Houston-Carson on the depth chart, but the Bears could play Hicks at cornerback, considering he played the position during his first three years in college. Either way, he has a great shot to come in and make a name for himself in 2022.
As for Robinson, the door is wide open for him to immediately contribute in 2022. The Bears have a huge hole opposite Robert Quinn on the edge and right now, there is no clear option when it comes to who replaces Khalil Mack.
Robinson needs to add some bulk and he's not the twitchiest pass rusher in the world, but he's got the wingspan, speed, and explosiveness to be a role player early-on in his career. NFL.com's draft expert, Lance Zierlein, referred to Robinson as an "unpolished gem with a high ceiling and stable floor" in his scouting report and gave him an overall grade of 6.30, which projects Robinson as a "plus starter" in the NFL.
The Bears didn't make any headlines during the draft, but they made plenty of solid moves that could certainly turn out to be great moves, at the end of the day.
And from the sounds of things, it starts with these two guys.
