The Tennessee Vols fired head football coach Jeremy Pruitt for cause a little over a year ago after several major recruiting violations were discovered via an internal investigation.

Pruitt essentially got sloppy with his recruiting. He wasn't doing anything else that other college head coaches aren't doing. He just didn't have a good handle on what was happening and how to keep it quiet.

That's where a lack of experience as a head coach got Pruitt in trouble.

On Saturday, LSU fired basketball coach Will Wade for cause. Earlier this week, LSU received an official notice of allegations from the NCAA.

If you're not aware, the NCAA has been investigating Wade and the Tigers for several years, dating back to when Wade was caught on an FBI wiretap saying he had made a "strong ass offer" to Javonte Smart.

That comment alone was bad enough (the audio of the call was public for almost two years before Wade lost his job). What finally did him in, though, was the notice of allegations from the NCAA — which included information about Wade being blackmailed by a player's fiancé.

That's way worse than anything Pruitt did. Or at least worse than anything we've publicly heard about the former Vols head coach (though once the NCAA completes its investigation, we'll likely hear more Pruitt stories).

Wade had no business being an SEC basketball coach. I can't believe LSU let him keep his job for as long as they did. I'm not a fan of the NCAA, but I wouldn't blame them for coming down hard on LSU just because they let Wade stay around for so long.
