Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry looks to continue his ownership of the Houston Texans on Sunday. The Titans travel down to Houston for a Week 8 showdown with an opportunity for Henry to make history.
In 10 games against the Texans, Henry is averaging 103.5 rushing yards per game with nine touchdowns. The Texans know what’s coming and still can’t stop it.
The Texans dodged Henry last season due to his Jones Fracture injury that sidelined him for the Titans’ last nine regular season games. But, in his last three meetings with Houston, Henry has galloped for over 200 yards in each contest.
Week 17, 2021: 250 rushing yards + 2 TDs
Week 6, 2020: 212 rushing yards + 2 TDs
Week 17, 2019: 211 rushing yards + 3 TDs
Henry has the opportunity to become the first player in NFL history to record at least two rushing touchdowns in four consecutive games against a single opponent. He also has a chance to become the first player ever to record at least 150 rushing yards in four consecutive games against a single opponent, per NFL Communications.
Henry rolls into Houston having rushed for over 100 yards in each of his last three games. When he gets into a groove like this, he can become impossible to contain.
This is certainly a matchup that Henry circles on his calendar once the schedules come out at the beginning of the offseason, but the Titans have to take care of business as a team. With a win against Houston, the Titans can give themselves a cushion before entering a brutal five-game gauntlet against some of the NFL's most feared teams.
