Following his release from the Tennessee Titans, wide receiver Robert Woods will stay in the AFC South and sign with the Houston Texans, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Houston inked Woods to a two-year deal worth $15.25 million with $10 million guaranteed. His contract's maximum value could reach $17 million.

Tennessee released Woods as part of a flurry of moves in late-February. By cutting Woods, the Titans saved roughly $12 million in salary cap space.

In his lone season with the Titans, it became abundantly clear that Woods was not the same player fans grew familiar with in his last few seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.

Woods, 30, did lead the Titans in receiving yards (527) and receptions (53) on a team-high 91 targets. However those numbers don’t hold much water in comparison with other leading receivers across the league.

Upon his release from Tennessee, Woods took to Twitter to celebrate the news. He tweeted “Free!” as if he had just escaped an organzition that had bogged him down over the course of the year.

Be careful what you wish for.

While the Titans’ quarterback carousel didn’t do him any favors, it’s unlikely that Woods’ career will be rejuvenated with the lowly Texans.

In fact, most players who find success in Houston typically follow the Mike Vrabel pipeline and wind up in Tennessee. Tim Kelly, Zach Cunningham, Jadeveon Clowney, and Jonathan Joseph are just a few that come to mind.

Woods makes the trek down to Houston to play for a franchise that hasn’t seen a passer eclipse 3,200 yards since Deshaun Watson was under center. Bobby Trees will soon learn that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
