A 2024 Tennessee Vols commit sent a message on Thursday that UT fans will love.

2024 four-star athlete Jonathan Echols committed to Tennessee last summer on July 4.

Echols, 6-foot-4/230 lbs from Georgia (he attends IMG Academy in Florida), is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 7 athlete in the nation and the No. 16 player in the state of Florida. He's also rated as the No. 105 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.

Florida and USF (where former Vols offensive coordinator Alex Golesh is the head coach) have continued to pursue Echols (he took an official visit to Florida earlier this month), but it looks like their efforts to flip the Tennessee commit have failed.

Echols tweeted on Thursday that his recruitment is completely shut down.

"My recruitment is 100% shut down! #GBO," tweeted Echols.

Echols is the second highest rated player in Tennessee's 2024 recruiting class (behind four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger), which is currently ranked No. 10 in the nation.

While Echols is listed as an athlete, he's expected to play tight end for the Vols. Edge rusher could also be a possibility, though Echols reportedly prefers to play tight end.
