The South Carolina Gamecocks fell to 1-2 on Saturday after a lopsided 48-7 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.
After the loss, South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer met with reporters. All was going well until a reporter named Phil asked Beamer if he sensed any "give up" in the locker room.
That's when Beamer snapped at the reporter.
"Hell no," said Beamer. "What kind of question is that, Phil? We're 1-2. We're 1-2 and we got a bunch of fighters in that room. Give up? That's not part of this football program. Get out of here with that."
It seems like Beamer goes viral after every press conference for something, though I can understand his frustration after the Georgia loss.
Sure, it's a fair question from the reporter. But at the same time, Beamer has every right to express his belief that his team is full of fighters. He has his players' backs, which is how it should be.
Still, it certainly feels like Beamer might be in his over his head at South Carolina.
We'll see how the season plays out, but it's not trending well so far for the Gamecocks.
