ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Falcons are signing Minnesota Vikings free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million deal with $100 million guaranteed.
Per Zach Klein of WSB, Cousin's contract will be broken down like this:
- Year 1 – $45 million guaranteed
- Year 2 – $45-million guaranteed
- Year 3 – $10-million guaranteed
- Year 4 – no money guaranteed
There were talks over the last two weeks that the Falcons were in on Cousins and this signing just confirms that those rumors were all true.
The rumors also said that Cousins was prematurely searching for homes and schools in the Atlanta area and the Falcons' official Twitter/X account had fun with that one once the news of their new QB signing dropped.
Cousins joins the Falcons following a six-year stint in Minnesota where he threw for 23,265 yards and 171 touchdowns. He also made three Pro Bowls.
He now joins a Falcons offense that features a handful of weapons in tight end Kyle Pitts, wide receiver Drake London and running back Bijan Robinson.
Cousins' wife likely played a role in getting him to Atlanta since she is from Alpharetta, GA and her parents still live there.
